CST is a light touch manual therapy that seeks to locate and remove restrictions throughout the body. Corrections are made through light touch, time, energy and intention. The use of palpation is key to CST.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is focused on two anatomical features: the cranial bones of the skull, the sacral bone of the lower spine and the connective tissue connecting these two features.
The brain and spinal cord are surrounded by cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
CSF fluid is a liquid that protects, nourishes, and cleanses the brain and spinal cord.
The cranial bones and sacrum work together to “pump” cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) through slight movements of both features.
Craniosacral restrictions refer to the tension in the connective tissue around the cranial (skull) bones of the head and the sacrum (larger triangular bone at the base of the spine) and/or the connective tissue connecting these two features.
The practitioner uses gentle techniques to help relieve these restrictions in the connective tissue to increase the balanced motion and slight “pumping” motion in these two areas that efficiently assist in the flow of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF).
It’s important for cerebrospinal fluid to flow without restriction. If an area of brain tissue is even partially deprived of optimal CSF motion, this could be a problem.
CST works by finding restrictions in the connective tissue. Following the fluid movements of the tissue will allow the practitioner to compare and relate areas of good movement to areas that have become restricted, twisted, or wound up through trauma or other causes.
In CST, bones in the cranium and the spine are used as “handles” to release the restrictions in the membrane system to allow the fluid to flow properly.
The gentle techniques during a CST session can help the body increase balanced motion in the cranial bones and the sacrum, and can assist in balancing the Cerebrospinal Fluid flow.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) can help with a wide range of physical, emotional, and neurological conditions by gently releasing tension in the central nervous system. Some common benefits include:
By restoring balance and flow, CST supports the body’s natural ability to heal and function optimally.
You can enhance your Craniosacral Therapy session by adding CBD ($30) or hot stones ($30) for a deeper healing experience.
Each add-on is seamlessly integrated into your treatment, enhancing the overall benefits without disrupting the gentle nature of Craniosacral Therapy. Just let us know at the time of booking if you’d like to include any add-ons!
